MILITARY RITES SATURDAY FOR EDWARD SIMMET
Edward Simmet, 47, who succumbed to a three day illness Wednesday at 8 a.m. at his home in Nekoosa, will be buried with military honors in Riverside cemtery Saturday. A private in the quartermaster's corps during the World War, he was a member of the American Legion, Archie Hamel post 381. The Legion will furnish color bearers and a firing squad at his grave.
The Rev. Fred Kersten will conduct services at the Voss funeral home at 2 o'clock and William Jaborick, H. Elson, Will Reichert, Leonard Morse, Harry Rowe and Pat Carey will be active pall bearers with Herbert Lewis, Kelsey Walrath, Adolph Schaffenberger, Oley Simek, John Wilke and Walter Vehrs named as honorary pall bearers.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. John Simmet, he was born in Chicago, Ill., on December 17, 1890. He moved with his family to this vinicity 37 years ago, residing here since. His marriage to Miss Cora Mann of Wisconsin Rapids took place on July 3, 1932 and one son was born to this union.
Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Augusta Simmet, his widow and son Vernon, all of Nekoosa; four brothers, Louis, Vesper; John, Kellner; Otto, California, and William of Nekoosa.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Voss funeral service.
