Funeral for Billy George Peyton, 71, of Bridgeport was Monday, Oct. 16, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport. The Rev. Bill Cleveland officiated. Burial followed at Sunset Cemetery.

Peyton died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Decatur.

Born Nov. 13, 1934, in Alvord to John Henry and Willie Claborn Peyton, he was a retired district technician for Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America and a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Paradise and the Decatur Eighters Square Dance Club. He married Betty Chester on May 17, 1957, in Picton.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Guenn Peyton.

He is survived by his wife of Bridgeport; a daughter, Teresa M. Lindsey and her husband, Billy, of Bridgeport; three sons, John Lee Peyton and his wife, Sharon, of Bridgeport, Bradley George Peyton and his wife, Debra, of Chico and Richard Allen Peyton and his wife, Janice, of Paradise; three brothers, Wayne, Roy and Paul Peyton; three sisters, Donna Nickerson, Linda Sue Worley and Margie Peyton; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Kenny and Doug Hudson, John Foster, Joe Stout, Chris Baker and Hughlen White. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Decatur Eighters.
