Arthur "Art" J. Boutto, 94, Cook, passed away at the Cook Nursing Home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

He was born on October 15,1915 on the family homestead in Meadowbrook; the son of John and Susan (Murtomma) Boutto. Art grew up in Meadowbrook and lived in the area nearly all of his life. In his early years, he worked in the underground mines in Ely and the mines in Hibbing. He married Lorraine Marsyla on November 6, 1939, at Cook. The couple bought a farm in Linden Grove (Township), where they settled and raised their family. Art farmed and logged for many years. He was employed in construction and worked in the building of Eveleth Taconite and Minntac. Art retired from St. Louis County Public Works Department, and was based in Linden Grove. He was an avid hunter, liked to fish and was a devoted Twin's fan. Also known for his wit and humor, Art jokingly told his family that he always had a front row seat at every Twins game – in front of the TV. He liked a good card game, including solitaire, which he said he liked "trying to beat the devil." He was a good trapper, made lots of firewood , enjoyed fishing, and picked plenty of blueberries throughout the years. He and Lorraine grew huge, abundant gardens, and generously shared the plentiful fruits and vegetables with family and neighbors. He left hunting land to his children and grandchildren, and his family gratefully acknowledges the legacy he left them. They will continue their annual hunting seasons for a long time.

Art was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Boutto on September 5, 2004, seven brothers; Urho, Orpo, Uno, William, Walter, Matt and John Boutto ; and four sisters; Susan Hamalainen, Bertha Waisanen, Martha Wainionpaa and Anna Amundson
