Bertha S. Waisanen, 88, of Chisholm, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Heritage Manor Health Care Center in Chisholm. She was born May 15, 1919, in Virginia, to John and Susan (Murtimaa) Boutto. Bertha lived in Meadow Brook, Keewatin, and was a longtime resident of Chisholm. She was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1941, to Neil J. Waisanen. She worked as a seamstress with the shirt factories in Chisholm and Virginia. Bertha enjoyed fishing in all seasons, snowmobiling and picking blueberries. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was active in the church's quilting club and WBA womans club.
Survivors include her children, Roger (Beatrice), Marcia (Dale) Boutang, and Gerald (Wendy); 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Art Boutto; and one sister, Gertie Kangas; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Neil; and 11 siblings.
Inurnment will be in Chisholm Cemetery.
