Anna A. Amundson, 98, of Cook, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the Cook Nursing Home. She was born in Virginia on Aug. 17, 1905, the daughter of John and Susan (Murtamaa) Boutto.

She grew up in the Meadowbrook area and was united in marriage to Palmer Amundson on Sept. 5, 1925, in Virginia. The couple resided in Linden Grove for many years, where they raised their family. They moved to Cook in the early 1970s. Anna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Martha Circle and the former Linden Grove Womens Club.

She was a great Scrabble and cribbage player and enjoyed other card games. She was an excellent cook and baker and a gracious host who furnished coffee and cookies to all who stopped by. Anna's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered and cherished always as a loving wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend.

Anna is survived by her sons: Palmer Jr. (Laurena), James (Audrey), John (Sharon) and Michael; daughter, Margaret Peggy (Donald) Kirby; brother, Art (Lorraine) Boutto; sisters: Gertie Kangas, and Bertha Waisanen; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Bea Amundson; and 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer, on May 30, 1983; a son, Ronald, on Dec. 2, 1992; a grandson, Jeff Kirby, on April 10, 1977; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Amundson, on Oct. 10, 1985.

Interment was in the Cook Community Cemetery.
