Constance Jean (Fitzmaurice) Reidy, 70, of Worcester, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

Her husband, James A. Reidy died in 1978. She leaves four children, James A. Reidy Jr. and his fiancée Colleen Ramsden of Dracut, Mary-Theresa Dionne and her husband Michael Dionne of Webster, Thomas J. Reidy and Denise J. Reidy; a sister, Ruth Ames and her husband Horace Ames, all of Worcester; 11 grandchildren, Michael, James III, Shelagh, Patrick, Peter, Rachael, Sara, Amy, Michael, Andrew and Liam; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Her son, Michael Patrick Reidy died in 1983. Her sister, Sharon F. Suominen died in 1995. Her brother, James Fitzmaurice died in 1994.

Connie was born in Boston, daughter of Donald J. and Genevieve M. (Guard) Fitzmaurice and lived in Worcester most of her life.

She graduated from North High School and Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Assumption College.

Connie was a registered nurse. She specialized in nursing care for patients with infectious diseases. Over her long nursing career, she worked with several Worcester area healthcare organizations including Worcester City Hospital and the VNA.

She was an active member of St. George's Parish, serving as a Eucharistic minister and lector, and participating in its shawl ministry.

Connie's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She is also remembered for her compassion, her healing touch, her dedication to her parish community and her faith in Jesus.

The funeral was on Wednesday, September 1 at St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abby's House, 52 High St., Worcester, MA 01609. Contact Therese Boucher for a link to an online eulogy.
