Buford Baker services set Saturday
Funeral services for Buford R. Baker, who died on Thursday in an Austin hospital, will be held on Saturday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Heights Baptist Church. The Rev. Buddy Miles will officiate, with Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Memorial Park.
Mr. Baker was born on May 17, 1930 in Caldwell County, to Zilmon and Florence Townsend Baker, natives respectively of Gonzales and Caldwell Counties. He was married to Joyce Jones on August 5, 1950 and she preceded in death in 1984. He was married to Tommie Pirkle Klein on June 15, 1985 and they made their home in Gonzales.
He worked for a number of years for GTE Southwest as a store keeper, was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church and a member of the Bryan chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the U. S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zilmon Baker; a daughter, Linda Baker of Bryan; a step-daughter, Patricia Richard of Austin; two sons, Michael Ray Baker of Bryan and David Wayne Baker of League City; two step-sons, Dale Edward Klein of the U. S. Army in Germany and Ronald Klein; four sisters, Evelyn Jo Pfuhl of Shiner, Allie Marie Valenta, Elizabeth Ann Hahn and Juanita Iley; 10 grandchildren.
The family has requested that those who desire may make memorial donations to a favorite charity.
