Jo Martha Vance was born to Bob and Marie (Hawkins) Hair on Nov. 1, 1933, in Tahlequah, and departed this life on July 15, 2010, in Tulsa, at the age of 76 years, eight months and 14 days. Jo attended Chilocco Boarding School. She was a very witty person who had a since of humor that could brighten anyone's day. She loved to make quilts and work puzzles, and she was a very good cook. Jo enjoyed her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buddy Vance; two sons, Jay Champ Eaton and Bob McHenry; and one brother, Jim Hair. She is survived by a loving family, which includes one son, Jay Edward Vance and wife, Brandee ,of Tahlequah; seven daughters, Marie Hamilton and Peggy Guy, both of Woodall, Eva Anderson of Tahlequah, Cleta Kinsey and husband, Ron, of Norman, Kristie Osburn and husband, Richard, of Onamia, Minn., Carrie Grayson and husband, Tim, of Tahlequah, and Allura Vance of Tahlequah; one special cousin, Laura Crittenden; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Many friends and other relatives also survive her. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel, with Brother D.J. McCarter officiating. Interment will follow in the Swimmer Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
