Services for Bob McHenry will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 28 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Marilyn Schellhamer of Cookson United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Swimmer Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home. The nurses and emergency medicial technicians of Tahlequah City Hospital will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Bob was born in Tahlequah on March 18, 1959, the son of Clyde McHenry and Jo Martha (Hair) McHenry. Bob was the fifth of 10 children. He grew up in the Tahlequah area, playing football, lettering in wrestling and participating in the Civil Air Patrol at Tahlequah High School. Bob earned his R.N. degree from Bacone College in Muskogee. He was married to Adrienne "Dee" Hurst on Oct. 17, 1991, and their marriage thrived until her passing on Feb. 27, 2006. He worked in the emergency room at Tahlequah City Hospital, as an EMS paramedic in Muskogee County, as the head charge nurse in Stilwell Regional Hospital, and in the hospital in Eureka Springs, Ark. Bob loved nursing and being a paramedic. He enjoyed coin collecting, World War II research, working puzzles, and taking float trips on the Illinois River. He was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed reading historical non-fiction. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dee; brother; Champ Eaton, and by his stepdad, Buddy Vance. His survivors: daughter Krista Hoban and her fiance, Brian Kelly,; mother Jo Vance, brothers and sisters, Marie Hamilton, Peggy Guy and husband Don, Eva McHenry, Carrie Grayson and husband Tim, Allura Vance all of Tahlequah. Cleta Kinsey and husband Ronnie of Norman, Kristie Osburn, and husband, Husband Richard, of Onamia, Minn., Eddie Vance and wife Brandee, of Stilwell.. sister-in-law Pattie Asselborn of Denver, Colo.; by his grandchild, Nicholas Hoban; by his best friend, Thomas Blair of Tahlequah and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. The family requests those wishing to send an expression of sympathy consider making a donation in Bob's name to the American Diabetes Association.
