A 16 year old Tahlequah youth was killed in a head on car/pickup collision just north of Muskogee, Oklahoma on US 69 at 9:20am Friday, July 18, 1969.
Three other people were hurt in the wreck, two critically. The traffic victim was Jay Ellis Eaton, Jr. The car was driven by his step-father, Buddy Dean Vance, 33, of Tahlequah. Vance was critically injured and is being treated in Muskogee General Hospital. Johnnie Lee Fourkiller, 16, a passenger in the Vance car was also listed in critical condition at the hospital.
The driver of the truck suffered a broken left leg and lacerations. He is listed in fair condition at the hospital.
