George came to Jefferson County, Illinois as a young man and apparently farmed here the remainder of his life. On 15 Feb 1872, in Jefferson County, George married Corenia Emaline (Emma) Ward. She was the daughter of Daniel Ward, who died in the Civil War in 1864, and his widow Susan Beckum Youngblood Ward. George and Emma were the parents of at least five children: Daniel David (named for the two grandfathers), Bertha Ann, John Wesley, Ida May, and Charles Edward. Corenia Emaline died in 1890 at age 45.
On 4 Mar, 1891, George married Margaret E. Downen Asbery, widow of William Asbery.
George is buried here near both his wives.
