On her 100th birthday, celebrated in a Pasadena nursing home, she received tributes from a number of former students, several of whom she had inspired to go into the teaching profession. She always contributed very generously of her time and money to worthwile causes, such as in service to elderly members in her church in Wichita Falls and in organizing Sunday school classes. She kept a cheerful attitude, even in her trying later years, and was interested in keeping abreast of current events. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, and South Park Baptist Church, Alvin, as long as she was able. She was a charter member of the Wichita Falls chapter of the American Association of University Women. She died at the age of 102 and 9 months
