Born in Durham, one of eight children of the late Herman A. and Rosa Levin Silver, Mrs. Goodman attended Durham public schools, graduating from Durham High School. She had worked as legal secretary for some of Durham's outstanding law firms, and then was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital until her retirement. Following retirement, she was involved in volunteer work in various organizations, including the Carolina Theatre, the American Dance Festival, Duke Arts, Duke Art Center, and also the Durham Arts Council. She was a member of Beth- El Synagogue.
Mrs. Goodman is survived by one sister, Patricia (Pat) Silver of Durham; two brothers, Louis Silver and David Silver both of Greensboro, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband, Sanford Goodman, died in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge.
