G. Patricia (Pat) Silver was born in Durham, a daughter of the late Herman and Rosa Silver. She died Saturday morning in her home. She lived her entire life in Durham, graduated from Durham High School and attended Duke University. She was one of eight children. Miss Silver worked for Duke her entire career. She started in the Women's College Admissions Department on East Campus. Later she moved to West Campus to work in the Office of Business and Finance where she assisted A. S. Brower and Gerhard Hendricksen among others. During her working years she also served as a notary public.

Pat, who was a member of the North Carolina Order of the Eastern Star, was active in the theater and followed that passion in her retirement by volunteering for the Carolina Theater, The American Dance Festival, Durham Arts Center and the Durham Arts Council. She also served as a docent at Duke University and was an avid fan of all Duke athletics.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Jack and Louis and sisters, Jean Greene, Ceil Redstone, Peggy Huffman and Sadie Goodman. She is survived by a brother, David Silver of Greensboro and nine nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Howerton & Bryan Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Officiating Rabbi Steven Sager. Burial will follow in Durham Hebrew Cemetery.
