Funeral Rites
For Mrs Epps
Funeral services for Mrs. T J Epps will be held at the graveside Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Oconee Hill Cemetery. The Rev. T. R. Harvill Sr, pastor of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, is to officiate.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. H E Thomas, Mrs. Bill McKinnon, Mrs. M T Toney, and Mrs. Allen G Smith, all of Athens; three sons, Carl Epps, Rome; Capt W B Epps, Hollywood, Fla and Robert L Epps, Norfolk, VA, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roy Epps, Athens. There are 22 grandchildren, a large number of great grandchildren and great great grand children.
Mrs. Epps died Monday at her residence, 220 Highland Ave, after an lengthy illness. She had resided in Athens for the past 61 years.
She was a native of Oconee County daughter of the late Mr. Benjamin C Langford and Mrs. Louise Griffith Langford. Mrs. Epps was a member of the U.D.C., a charger member of the Prince Avenue Baptist Church and was devoted to church work until her health failed.
Mrs. Epps was the mother of Ben T Epps, one of the pioneers in aviation for whom Ben T Epps Field is named.
Mrs. Epps made her home with her daughter Mrs. William McKinnon. The remains will be at Bridges Funeral Home until 2 pm Wednesday. The family will be at 220 Highland Ave.
The family invites contributions to the Prince Avenue Church Building Fund.
