Alice "Annette" Goforth, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Schooler Funeral Home's Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia Street, Amarillo.
Annette was born in Menard, Texas. She was the seventh of eight children born to E.D. and Madie Judd Hurd.
Annette was born during the Great Depression. The strong work ethic she exhibited during her life was instilled in her by her parents. After graduation from Amarillo High School in 1951, she went to work at General Motor Acceptance Corporation in the accounting department, she continued there for 40 years retiring as Senior Accounting Supervisor.
Balancing a career and being super homemaker came easily to her and after retirement, she busied herself helping her daughter maintain a household and raising grandchildren.
Annette professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. She was baptized at what was then known as Pierce Street Baptist Church. She was an active member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Aldersgate Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leland and Sylvan; three sisters, Syble, LaVeta, and Jane; and her parents. She was also preceded in death by her husband’s Kenneth Johnston and Don Goforth.
Survivors include daughter, DeeAnn and her husband Buddy Osteen; grandson Tucker and his wife Jennifer Osteen, of Dallas, and their children Olivia, Madeline and Graeme; granddaughter Kellé and her husband Michael Wells, of Franklin, Tenn., and their children Zoé, Quincy, Paisley and Levi; granddaughter Hanna Osteen of Dallas; and sister, Grace Ruth Brown of Waxahachie.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m Friday at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia
