Nancy Ann Hite Anderson, went to be with the Lord. He gave Nancy life through her parents on March 13, 1922, and opened a door to a new abundant and ever lasting life on Sat. Oct. 2nd, 2004, at 6:40 a.m. at Columbia Nursing Center.
Nancy Ann was born on March 13, 1922, the 13th of 14 children to be born to the Rev. Fred and Nancy Hite.
At a young age Nancy began playing the piano. Her mother was quite effective in relaying to her that God had given her this gift to be used unselfishly for his Kingdom's purpose. She began playing at Zion Baptist Church when she was twelve and continued to do so until a few weeks before her death. Truly she was a rarity amongst musicians in her willingness to use her gift freely with no expectation of pay.
"Miss Nancy" as she was called by the children, knew how to get a car pool together and pack in as many as fifty children in a few cars. Always active, she faithfully served as the director and musician for several choirs. The people she accompanied as well as many churches she played in are too numerous to list.
Nancy faithfully served as the director and musician for the Lincoln Center Senior Citizens choir, the Caldwell Senior Citizens Choir, musician for the Golden Age Breakfast Club of Liberty Baptist Church, soloist for the Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer, just to mention a few.
Nancy married her lifelong neighbor, Augustus Anderson, who preceded her in departing this earthly life. Their marriage produced six children, Joyce (Walter), Bruce (Gail), Gayl, Brad, Alexis (Roger) and Iris.
Of her siblings, twins Robert J. and Samuel K., Homer, Louis, Edith, Mary, Freddie, Henry, Ambrose, Chester, Benjamin and Alice, preceded Nancy in death.
She leaves behind Joseph. Additionally numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and a host of friends will miss her presence.
Services 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at Zion Baptist Church, 1800 S. Governor St., entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum, the Rev. R.V. Terry officiating.
Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Zion Baptist Church and a tribute will be held immediately following from 4 to 8 p.m. Final arrangements entrusted to Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel.
