Augustus "Andy" O.T. Anderson died at the age of 85. It is so befitting of God to call this remembered, hard working husband and father home to Glory on Labor Day.

He moved to Evansville at the age of 2, settling in the Oakdale area. O.T. as he was fondly called served as a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married his lifelong neighbor, Nancy Hite, this union of 57 years produces 6 children.

Andy showed signs of being an entrepreneur at an early age. He would show movies on a wall in his home with a projector he owned and charge the neighborhood children one cent. He launched out and opened his own shoe repair shop on Lincoln Avenue. He named the shop Andy's Shoe Repair, thus becoming known to many of his customers as Andy.

O.T. received Christ as his Lord and served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and church treasurer at Zion Baptist Church. Clearly, he was a good role model before his family and friends and the memories of his gentle impact will last throughout our life. His loving wife often commented to others that she had the best husband this side of Heaven.

O.T. leaves behind Nancy, his wife; his children, Joyce, Bruce, Gayl, Brad, Alexis and Iris; his two sisters, Mary and Dorman; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. We all recognize the gift God shared with us through this precious man and he will be greatly missed.

Services 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Zion Baptist Church, 1800 S. Governor St. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Dr. Rev. R.V. Terry officiating. Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mason Bros. Memorial Chapel and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church. Final arrangements entrusted to Mason Brothers.
