Mr. Burgess died Friday at the Bishop Drumm Home. He had been ill about a month.
Born in Valparaiso, Indiana, Mr. Burgess was a Des Moines resident about 60 years and previously lived in White Oak.
He was employed in the Polk County assessors office retiring in 1949.
Mr. Burgess was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and at one time served About 15 years as state treasurer of his Church conference.
He is survived by a son Marion Burgess of Arlington Heights, Illinois two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
