Albert Andrew Abbott, 96, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, December 10, 1984.

He was a teacher at the elementary level teaching for 31 years in Greene County.

He was born in Greene County, son of the late Albert A. and Elizabeth Seago Abbott. He married the former Ethel Ann Henkle on 2 June 1909. She passed away in 1980.

He was a former supervisor of the State Hospital at Jacksonville and was a past Mayor of Kane.

He was a Mason for 50 years. He served as past grand master of the King Solomon Lodge #197 and was a past patron of the Eastern Star Elizabeth Chapter #17.

Surviving are a son, Ernest W. "Benny" of Kane; a daughter, Mary Flamm of Decatur; 13 Grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 Great-great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Kane Cemetery. He was a member of the Kane Baptist Church for 70 years and was their eldest member.
