Obituary in The Pueblo (Colorado) Chieftian - "Rita Catherine (Powell) Wersich passed away March 3, 2008, at the Medalion Retirement Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born April 8, 1926, in St. Paul, Minn., to George and Mary Powell. Rita was married for 25 years to her late husband Wilbern W. Wersich, M.D. with whom she had six children: Mary Ann Liston, Rita Marion, Bill Wersich, Nora Schlesinger, Eric Wersich and Carol Wersich. She is survived by nine grandchildren; her sister, Mary Bastian; and two of her brothers, Ned and Neil Powell. Her brother, George Powell, preceded her in death. Rita attended St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, Minn., as a young woman and became a registered nurse. Rita was very proud of her Irish, Catholic heritage. During her wonderful life she enjoyed skating, skiing, quilting, sewing and playing bridge. She cherished her children who will remember her as a loving mother with a sense of humor that remained to the end. A private memorial service is planned...."
