Dear Rollin:
I passed in school and will be in the 6th grade next year I only got 2 5's all year in Arithmetic and Phisiolgy but that was 2 to many. we picked blackberries yesterday and got two gallons and a half. Mama made blackberry pie. The old mother cat and one of her babies died because they ate a poison digger but the tom cat is just like a mother himself to the other three cats. we found them down in Uncle Walsons wheat field eating a digger but they haven't died yet. Parkers tom cat came home and talk about leap I bet he can leap 16ft, he sure is skinny, but he hasn't come to the house yet he is sleeping and staying in the barn. (Remember the most who scribbled this) Well good bye till next time Joy Redifer.
P.S. Jewell is sick this morning we think she coming down with the measles. can I have your white dice? Say so if you want them, we have found a new game with them (Cootie)

Her name is Lara her birthday is March 27 and the little Boys is March 26. The little kids sure are cute esspieclly the little girl Barbara and the little boys name is Merl. Sure had a good time. Please write to me well goodbye till next time. your sister Joy I'll be glad when you come home. Jewell is calling her harp "The Migget".

Joy died a month and a half later. She loved playing "Cootie", I love how at eleven she was wrangling a way to get those White dice!!

Joy's appendix burst, she died the same evening.

My mother never got over losing her little sister Naldi Joyce "Joy", her eyes would tear up each time she spoke of her, she loved her so much, now they are together.
