Della Mae Ruble, oldest daughter of Henry and Hattie Ruble, was born in Lucas county, Iowa Dec. 17, 1880, and passed away June 23, 1941, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 6 days. She joined the United Brethren Church near Norwood when she was 13 and has been a fine example of a Christian woman. She had many acquaintances and friends and no service was too great or sacrifice too much for her to make for them.

On Feb. 17, 1899, she was married to Elias Hasting. They spent 34 years together and he passed away Feb. 9, 1933. To this union five children were born: Ila Chumbley of New Virginia, Maxine Kennedy and Earl Hasting of Indianola, and Harold Hasting of Liberty Center; one daughter. Mrs. Reta Thorn, passed away Jan. 22, 1937. The children were at her bedside constantly during her last illness which was of 8 weeks duration. Everything that could be done for her comfort and relief was done, but the Lord saw best to take her home to rest.

Besides her children she leaves to mourn her death 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Maud Halterman of Carlisle and Mrs. Cora Wood of Martensdale; four brothers, Harry and Freeman of Woodburn, and Perry and Lawrence of Lucas; besides numerous other close relatives and friends. One granddaughter, Irene Marie Chumbley, preceded her in death.
