He was married to Mary Coffman, November 24, 1915, and to this union was born six children: Ivan of Lacona, Iowa; Dwight of the Marine Corps at Oceanside, Calif.; Robert of Nevada, Iowa; Mrs. Iva Irwin, of Osceola; Mrs. Vivian Herndon of Woodburn, and Mrs. Wilma Heston, also of Osceola. He raised and loved as his own, three step children, Arthur Coffman of New Virginia; Mrs. Bertha Slone of Atlantic, Iowa, and Willard Coffman of New Virginia.

He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and children above mentioned; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Maud Halterman and Mrs. Cora Wood of Indianola; three brothers, Freeman of Woodburn, Lawrence of Indianola, and Harry of Lucas, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He spent all his life on a farm until October 24, 1943, when he moved to his home in Osceola, where he lived until God called him to his heavenly home "not made with hands."

He became a member of the Christian Union church at Bethel Chapel when a young man and had lived a true Christian life, attended all church activities and made many, many friends. He will be greatly missed in the community in which he has always lived, having a smile and a pleasant word for all.

Funeral services were held at Bethel Chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2:30, with interment at the cemetery adjoining the church.
