Obituary
Catherine Michael, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Michael, was born in Ohio Oct. 21, 1829, and died Jan. 19, 1908, at her home in Warren county, aged 78 years, 3 months and 28 days. She was married to Jos. Hasting in 1850. She was the mother of 11 children, one dying in infancy and Barbara Edwards died in 1906. Those left to mourn for their mother are: Mrs. John Welch of Weippe, Idaho; Mrs. John Campfield of Adair county; Mrs. Rebecca Robinson of Portland, OR; Mrs. William Welch of Chariton; Jos. Hasting of Klatt, SD; William, Ira and Ellis of Warren county; and Mrs. John Marquis of Nezpierce, Idaho.
In 1853 she moved to Iowa with her husband and has resided in Marion and Warren counties since. At the age of 12 years she was converted and united with the Methodist Church of which she remained a member till after she came to this state when she joined the Baptist Church and has ever since remained a true and faithful Christian. The funeral was held at Bethel Chapel Tues. afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. F. Darrell in the presence of a large audience. The remains were laid in the Bethel cemetery.
