My 7th great grandfather Thomas Canfield was a farmer but little is known of him as he died at age 35. In 1679 Thomas married Rebecca Atkinson. The inventory of his estate is an interesting exhibit of the early colonial period. The inventory is dated 22 August 1689 on file at New Haven Probate Office vol. 2 pg 25. Thomas' son Abiram was baptised at Milford 5 Jan 1689/90 and a note says born after father's death. No tombstone remains for Thomas in the old section of Milford cemetery. His widow Rebecca remarried 28 April 1695 Samuel Camp, the father of her son Thomas' wife, Mary Camp.
