Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Jessie Booton

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Florence Booton, of Spirit Lake, mother of Mrs. Fred Range of Milford, were held from the Methodist Church in Spirit Lake on Thursday, July 3. Rev. Clayton Wittstruck, pastor of the church, officiated at the last rites which were arranged by Leysons. Mrs. Iva Slagle was soloist, and she was accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Doudna, organist.
Interment was made in Lake View cemetery at Spirit Lake and the pall bearers were Lester Koppen, Webster Hodge, Dale Lundstrom, Bob Dickinson, Harry Bryan, and Floyd Edwards.
Mrs. Booton passed away June 20 at the Milford Nursing Home where she had been cared for since June 12 when she fractured her hip in a fall at her home in Spirit Lake. She had been failing in health for the past three years, and members of her family cared for her at her own home until her last illness.
Jessie Florence Dean, the daughter of James T. and Nancy Dean, was born June 20, 1877, near Maysville, Indiana. She was 82 years of age at the time of her death. She attended the country school near her home, and moved with her parents to the vicinity of Audubon and Coon Rapids, Iowa, when a young girl. There were seven girls and four boys in the Dean family.
Jessie Florence Dean was married June 26, 1892, to Albertis Booton of Viola Center, Iowa, and they moved to Spirit Lake in 1908. The family home has been there since that time. Twelve children were born to this union, all of whom are living. They are Carl Booton of California; Virgil Booton, Coon Rapids; Iola Harris, Susanville, California; Herbert Booton, Spirit Lake; Doris Garrett, Casa Grande, Arizona, Willis Booton, Spirit Lake, Agnes Range, Milford; Leslie Booton, Spirit Lake; Vivian Booton and Daisy Clearwater of California; Ivan Booton, Spirit Lake and Marjorie Lamb, San Diego, California.
Mr. Booton died in 1937. Survivors besides the twelve children are 36 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren; two sisters, Jolieta Ridgway of Boone and Gertrude Bicklehoupe of Des Moines.
Attending the services from a distance were the following daughters and sons: Virgil Booton of Coon Rapids, Daisy Clearwater of Long Beach, Marjorie Lamb of San Diego and Doris Garret of Casa Grande, Arizona, who spent the two weeks prior to her mother's death here. Mrs. Clearwater had been here since last September helping care for her mother.
