"PLEASANT PLAIN. Albert Coffin, 67, Brighton, died in Auto Crash.
Car hit a bridge over Burr Oak Creek near Pleasant Plain early this morning. About a mile and a half northeast of Pleasant Plain. The road bridge over the creek is located under a railroad trestle crossing the same creek and over the county road. Coffin served as a section foreman for the Rock Island RR for 30 years before his retirement in 1961. He held positions at Eldon, Washington, Marsailles, Ill., Cambridge, Ill., and Sigourney. Native of Jefferson County, born July 29 1899 near Pleasant Plain, son of Everett (sic. Charles Everett Coffin) and Cora Waters Coffin; married Beulah Leffler Dec 6 1919. Surviving are widow and children: Mrs. Wilbur Hysell, Washington; Carrol and Russell Coffin, both of Des Moines; Herman Coffin, Ottumwa, and Dean Coffin, Geneseo, Ill.; his father, Everett Coffin, Fairfield; and sisters and brothers: Mrs. Everett Pencil, Washington; Mrs. Richard Reinecke, Amarillo, N.M.,; Mrs. Charles Irving, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mrs. Hershel Mendenhall, Fairfield; Earl Coffin, Fairfield; Glenn Coffin, Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 2 gr-grandchildren."
