Coffin Rites Set Tuesday

Everett Coffin, 91, lifetime resident of Jefferson County, died Sunday at the Fairfield Convalescent Home after an illness of three weeks.

Services will be held Wedmesday at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Plain Friends Church in charge of Rev. Wade Dillavou. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery. The body is at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

A retired farmer, Coffin's home was in the Pleasant Plain area. He was born May 1, 1878 in Pleasant Plain, son of Henry and Avis Smith Coffin. He was a member of the Friends Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and elder for many years.

Coffin was married Feb 22, 1899 to Cora Waters. she died May 4, 1911. He was married to Elvira Alice Jones March 16, 1915. She preceded her husband in death Oct 16, 1953.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Edith Pencil, Washington; Mrs. Bertha Reinecke, Terrerro, N. Mex.; Mrs. Mabel Irving, Elmhurst, Ill.; Earl Coffin, Fairfield; Glenn Coffin, Boise, Ida.; and Mrs. Mildred Mendenhall, Fairfield.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, five great-grat-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Arndt, Emporia, Kan.; and Mrs. Elsie Elmore, Prescott, Ariz.

One son, one grandson, three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
