Chester S. Adams was born near Bethany, MO, March 15, 1883, and departed this life September 27, 1937, near Lakin, KS; aged 54 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Roberts of Mount Ayr, IA, in 1904. To this union four children were born: Raymond of Lakin, KS, Cleo Fouser of Ellston, IA, Vernon and Clarence of the home.
The family made their home in Ringold County, IA, until 1931 when they moved to Lakin, KS, where they have since made their home.
He was a member of the Odd Fellow lodge and was ever true to its principles and teachings. He was a kind and loving jusband and father, a good neighbor, and a true friend. He will be greatly missed by all.
He leaves to mourn his passing; his beloved wife and childrend and one granddaughter, one grandson having preceded him in death; his aged mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Adams of Onawa, IA; two brothers, O. J. Adams of Onawa, IA, and Warren Adams of Utah; one sister, Mrs. C. E. Gowey of Oregon; and a host of friends.
The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church at Lakin Friday, Oct. 1, 1937, by the Rev. C. Donald Close. A large concourse of friends paid their last respects to their friend and neighbor.
Interment was made in the Lakin cemetery, the following Odd Fellows acting as pall bearers: Gene Noriis, James Winters, L. F. Hefner, Virgil Hubbard, W. U. Stevens, R. C. Oxelson.
