Mrs. Hattie Ellen Vance, 330 East Carroll Street, died at the St. Francis Hospital, after having been in failing health three years. She had been seriously ill since Dec. 22.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Free Methodist Church, the Rev Williams of Springfield, assisted by Rev. Worth of Macomb, officiated. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Vance was born Oct. 3, 1876 at Brooklyn, a daughter of John and Lucinda Curtis, and lived in Brooklyn until 1902 when she moved to the Macomb community.

For the past 24 years, she had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Lucille Price of Macomb. Mrs. Vance was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

She married Otis Vance in 1896. Surviving are four sons and daughters, Mrs. Price, Wayne Vance of East Peoria, Miss Twila Vance of Minneapolis, Minn., and Galen Vance of Peoria, two grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Mae Dorsett of Macomb. Two brothers, Marion and Henry Curtis, a half-brother, George Curtis, two sisters, Mrs. Belle Leas and Mrs. Margaret Dark, and a half-sister, Mrs. Amanda Webster, are deceased.

Clugston Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of services.
