HERMENA ILLIG MATTESON

Hermena Illig, was born at Madison, Wis., on February 2, 1856. She died at her home below Portland on Monday, Feb. 1, 1932, the day preceding her 76th birthday.
She was buried Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. C. E. Robinson, pastor of the Mokane Christian church, at Pleasant Hill church.
Miss Illig was united in marriage on July 29, 1873 to Asa Matteson. To this union fourteen children were born, of whom the following ten survive Mrs. Matteson: Mrs. L. A. Moore, of Portland, Mrs. Hy. Garriott, Mrs. Recer Garriott, of Steedman; Mrs. L. H. Stewart, of Kansas City; Mrs. Roy Dewey, of Desoto; Mrs. Chas. Werner of St. Louis; Norman, of Bolivar; William, of Jefferson City; John, of Robertson; and Robert, of Steedman. She is also mourned by 38 grand-children, eight great-grand-children, two brothers and three sisters, and a host of friends. She was a charter member of Pleasant Hill Baptist church and remained a true Christian until her death. -Mokane Missourian, Fri. Feb. 5, 1932
