W/O Amos Clark Short. There is no marker for Ann as of 2002. When I visited this cemetery it was used for cows to pasture. Ann E. Smith was the first teacher in Vancouver proper in 1852 at the log cabin of Amos Meade Short built on his Donation Land Claim.

Aunt Ann's family settled on Sauve Island in the Columbia River, now part of Portland, Oregon. Clark County History - Volumn 16 - 1975

Columbia Chronicle - October 28, 1899

Mrs. A.C. Short, wife of the pioneer merchant of Marengo, mother-in-law of Frank H. Waldrip and grandmother of Mrs. D. S. Bingham, died at her home in Marengo, Saturday, October 14th, at the age of 73 years. She came with her husband from the east of Vancouver nearly forty years ago where her parents then lived. A few years after they moved to Wallula where they ran a hotel till 1876, when they became the first settlers in Marengo, where they have been in the mercantile business ever since. Mrs. Short was a bright woman of a splendid education and was noted, wherever known, for her kindness of heart. Her death is deeply lamented by a large number of warm friends. Asotin Sentinel.

Birth city and county provided by Duane Skeel # 48892580 in August of 2020. Still trying to verify.
