1939 in Junction, Utah. They were married for 59 years, until Carl passed away in August 1998.
She was mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, cousin to many and a friend to all. She enjoyed cooking. She was a school lunch worker for over 20 years; she worked at the Homer Olsen Senior Center in Monroe as a cook for two summers. She learned to crochet when she was a young girl and crocheted almost every day of her life. She liked the outdoors and looked forward to camping when the summer months came. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. She loved to sit and tell stories of her youth and her heritage. Della resided in Monroe for 30 years until her relocation to Roy in 2001, where she lived until her passing.
She is the mother of eight children. Sons include: Carlyn (Lucy), Las Vegas; Bill (Sandy), Monroe; Lewis (Chris), Roy; Gary, and Dean (Zandra), both Monroe; daughters are Velda (Larry) Bohne, Murrieta, CA; Vicki
(Clyde) Hanson and Jo Anne (Marty) Robinson, Las Vegas. She is grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Sisters: Melba Wilcock, Roy, and Dorothy Peterson, Washington.
Preceded in death by husband, parents, and sisters, Elverda Thiede and Fontella Clift.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Monroe Stake Center (140 South Main). Burial is in the Monroe Cemetery.
