Mr. Gardiner, Ex-Teacher, Dies At Home
Walter Poole Gardiner, 77, 1506 21st East, former teacher and principal in Sevier County, died at his home Tuesday of natural causes.
He graduated from the University of Utah in 1905 and was a farmer and fruit grower as well as an educator. He was a member of the Emeritus Club, Utah State Historical Society, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was born Sept. 20, 1885, in Salt Lake City, a son of Alfred and Anne Poole Gardiner. He married Estella Longson on Dec. 23, 1912, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Survivors include his widow and sons, Glen W., Riverton; Ralph and Thomas A., both from Salt Lake City, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at 2350 E. 1350 South, where friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
