Thelma Rowena (Cassell) Button Ball, age 93, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Baxter Springs, Kansas.

Mrs. Ball was born on May 14, 1910, in Baxter, Her parents were John and Ethel (Wilson) Cassell.

She lived in Baxter Springs most of her life, except for 19 years she spent in Iowa. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Baxter Springs; The Magnolia Chapter #158, Order of the Eastern Star and the Senior Citizens Club both of Baxter Springs.

Mrs. Ball graduated from Baxter High School, and in 1959 she graduated as an LPN with the first graduating class of Franklin Tech, in Joplin, MO.

She was married to Sylvester Pearl Button Sr. in Baxter Springs, He preceded her in death in 1957. She later married Oscar Ball in 1963, he also preceded in her death in 1981.

Survivors include a son Charles J. Button and his wife Charlene, Baxter Springs, KS.; a daughter Dorothy Kammerer and her husband, Joe of Vacaville, CA.; eight grandchildren, eight Great Grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and five step grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a son Sylvester Pearl Button Jr.; four brothers, Edward Cassell, Albert Cassell, Don Cassell, and Raymond Cassell; and two sisters, Ruby Schrum and LaVon Paxson.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday June 26, 2003 at Baxter Cemetery in Baxter Springs, KS. The Rev Fred Ryman will officiate. Eastern Star Rites will be held at the graveside. Services are under the direction of Derfelts Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs. The Casket will remain closed at all times.
