Sylvester Pearl Button Jr., 70, of Crescent Nursing Home, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001, at Unity Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ. Pastor Lloyd Mansfield will officiate. His body has been donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ.
Mr. Button was born on Nov. 27, 1930, in Quapaw, Oklahoma, the son of Sylvester Pearl and Thelma Cassell Button. He was never married.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his mother, Thelma Ball of Baxter Springs, Kansas; one brother, Charles Button of Baxter Springs, Kansas; one step-brother, Donald Ball of Columbus Junction; one sister, Dorothy Kammerer of Vacaville, Calif.; four step-sisters, Annabelle Kempf of Dixson, Missouri, Dorotha Kirchner of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and Jaunita Wood and Charlotte Jensen, both of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his father, his step-father, Oscar Ball and a step-brother, Nelson Ball.
