Funeral services for J.B. Brewer, 81, were conducted in the Sharon Baptist church at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev. Jack Alford, long-time friend of Brewer, was in charge of the rites. Brewer, a retired Winnsboro farmer, died in the family home in the Stout community last Thursday morning. He had been in failing health for several months, and had been seriously ill for a week prior to his death. A native of Tennessee, Brewer was born, December 5, 1871. When he was just a boy he came with his family to Texas and settled in Delta county, near Cooper. He moved to Wood county in 1918, where he engaged in farming. Brewer was married 65 years ago, and his widow survives. He was a member of a Baptist church. In addition to the widow, Mrs. Alta Lee Brewer, he is survived by four sons, Claude Brewer of Dallas; Clyde Brewer of Dallas; Clifton Brewer of Dallas, and Leslie Brewer of Winnsboro; and one daughter, Mrs. J. B. Mitchell of Winnsboro. In addition there are 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Sharon Cemetery, directed by McCrary-Waggoner-Edwards Funeral Home.
