Ruth Dorothy Kitchens, 87, of Deland, Fla., died November 23, 2007, at her home, attended by her husband, Meryl.

In addition to services held in Florida, local memorial services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller will be announced later, when out-of-state family and friends can attend.

Ruth was born at home March 9, 1920, at Ree Heights, S.D., to Emil R. and Emma M. (Schultz) Reimann. She was a graduate of Ree Heights High School. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran in Miller.

She worked for a short period at Habicht's Clothing Store in Miller. She met and married Vincent Anderson, a local businessman. Early on, they moved to Palo Alto, Calif., where they were engaged in the defense effort of World War II.

Residing in Palo Alto after the war, she and her husband were proud, dedicated parents and were active members of the Lutheran Church. Vincent Anderson died in 1962.

Ruth will be missed by her husband of many years, Meryl; son Richard (Diane) Anderson, Boise, Idaho; daughter Pat Anderson, Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eldora Mueller of North Dakota, Gertrude (Bud) Anderson of California, Irene (Milt) Blehm of Colorado, Esther Triplett of California and Marie Winsell of California; and brother Donald (Norma) Reimann, Ree Heights.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gubby; an infant brother, Elton; and by her first husband, Vincent Anderson.
