Daughter of Joseph and Melina (Morin) Marier.
She was a lifelong Marquette resident. 1944 graduate of Graveraet High School, Fern married Orville Baker on September 21, 1946 at the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marquette. They celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Fern worked briefly as a clerk-typist. In her later years she volunteered in the Marquette General Hospital Gift Shop for over 15 years.
1990 Fern and Orville began spending the winter months in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In her free time she enjoyed reading a good book. She was a member of St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette.
