Rebecca was the daughter of William Smith and Nancy (Pierce) Smith.

She married a widower, Thomas Harrison McDaniel on April 30, 1873 in Robertson County, Texas. Together they had seven children.

1--Frances Kernelia [1874-1964]
2--Davis [1876-1876]
3--Sarah Adeline [1878-1882]
4--Allie Berta "Bertie" [1880-1939]
5--Isom DeWitt [1886-1949]
6--Addie Bell "Dolly" [1887-1972]
7--Troy Crosby [1890-1962]

1--Ella [1860-1885]
2--William Alonzo "A,L." [1862-1953]
3--Margaret Elizabeth [1864-1955]
4--Eliza Jane "Janie" [1866-1907]
5--Thomas Jackson "Uncle Jack" [1868-1964]

Rebecca also helped Thomas raise her five step-children.

Apparently Rebecca had been married before Thomas, for on their marriage license, it shows her name to be Merritt and this was never known until I got their marriage license. I do not believe my grandmother or my mother knew this, for my maiden name was Merritt and I know they would have told me.

The pictures of Rebecca were in my grandmothers things. I took the picture of her headstone at Frederick.
