Carroll (Kelly) Dakins

Carroll (Kelly) Dakins, 72, 1502 Wisconsin Ave., Plover, died at home Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Boston Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Nulton officiating. Burial will be in the Plover Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. An Odd Fellows ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A memorial will be established in his name.

Mr. Dakins was born Sept. 11, 1910, in the town of Buena Vista, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dakins. He grew up and attended schools in the Buena Vista Area and as a young man he was engaged in farming. On Oct. 6, 1934, he married the former Marian Grant in Buena Vista. After the marriage he worked for many years as a milkman for Jacklin Dairy which later became West Dairy. He retired in 1972. He was a past supervisor on the Plover Town Board, past president of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club, a past volunteer member of the Plover Fire Department and past president of the Isherwood Community Club. He served on the Plover Cemetery Board and was a member of the Plover United Methodist Church and Odd Fellows I.O.O.F. Stevens Point Lodge 92.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (LaVonne) Hanson, 4706 Pierce Ave., town of Plover, Mrs. John (Elaine) Kruzitski, Post Road, Plover, and Mrs. Paul (Karen) Pliska, 5549 Highway 54, town of Plover; two brothers, Wilbur and Kenneth, both of Wisconsin Rpaids; four sisters, Mrs. William (Shirley) Clussman, Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. George (Eleanor) Jaecks, Wausau, Mrs. Lois Worden, Amherst, and Mrs. Dorothy Wollslair, Elm Street, Plover; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.
