Causby Clay Combs, 90, of Sylvester, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at her home. She was born Jan. 7, 1917, at Mud River, Lincoln County, a daughter of the late George and Alifare Adkins Clay. She was a member of Sylvester Assembly of God Church. Her job that she loved was a housewife and mother and quilt making. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Combs; two sons, Robert Allen Combs and George Franklin Combs; 19 sisters and brothers; she was the last one in her family. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Michael of Cleveland, Ohio, Eleanor Farley of Columbus, Ohio, and Virginia Markley and husband, Don, of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Charles Combs and wife, Rosie, of Sylvester; special caregiver and companion of 22 years, niece, Shirley Kinder, and niece, Drema Kinder; and special thanks to Hospice, Sally, Edie and Barbara. Funeral service will be held Sunday morning, March 11, at 11 a.m. in the Assembly of God, Sylvester, with the Rev. George Mandakunis and the Rev. Charlie Dickens officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the church. Armstrong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
