Mississippian and State Gazette of Jackson,MS, August 11, 1858:
“Married: In this city on the 5th instant by Mr. Forsyth of the Methodist Church. Mr. Wm. Jones to Miss Margaret French of Jackson.”

Montgomery Advertiser, Montgomery, AL, October 21, 1910:
“Mrs. Mary Jones died shortly after midnight Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B.E. Eastburn, 21 Mobile Street, after a long illness. She was 82 years old. Mrs. Jones was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and came to the United States when quite young, her parents settling in Mobile. She was married in that place, and will be buried there Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Jones had lived in Montgomery for the past seven years with her daughter, Mrs. Eastburn, and was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Eastburn, of Montgomery, Mrs. J T. Martin of California, a son George W. Jones of Mobile, and two brothers, Sam French and Alex French of Vicksburg, MS.
The funeral will be held from the Mobile Street residence this morning at 10 o’clock, the Rev. Henry M. Edmonds, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services.”

Note: Margaret's obituary and death certificate give her name as Mary French. There are several discrepancies in these documents and family genealogy records.
