The family lived briefly in Pittsburgh, PA, before moving to Jackson, MS in 1855. Elizabeth moved with her son David and his family to Mobile following the Civil War.

"Died, Monday night, at 8:30 o’clock, Mrs. Elizabeth French, in the 81st year of her age. The friends and acquaintances of David French and family, are requested to attend the funeral, from their residence, southwest corner of Charleston and Bayou Streets, this (Tuesday) evening, at 4 o’clock.”
