Warren Dee "Sonny" Moore was born in rural Lometa to William Dee and Stella Smith Moore. He was one of 4 children, and the only boy. His sisters were: Wanda Rue Moore 1922 – 2010; Alfa Lou Moore 1924-2006; and Annelle Moore 1931 – 1997. Sonny was the youngest.
He attended 12 years of school at the Lometa School, playing on the football team for the Lometa Hornets during his Junior High and High School Years.
His last year of high school, and a year after, he worked for a leathersmith in Lometa, and made many beautiful belts, and repaired boots. He always had a great love of fine western boots, and had them custom made in his later years.
He joined the U. S Army and did his training at Fort Hood, Texas, in 1955 and did four years of service - two years of service in Germany. In Germany he trained with Mortars, and won awards for is excellence. He was with the 1st Armored Rifle Battalion, 50th Infantry, Fort Hood, Texas. He separated from the army in 1959, with an honorable discharge.
After he got out of the army, he and his cousin Laddie Smith went to Houston and got jobs with Western Electric, making good money building and repairing telephones. After two years in Houston, he returned to Lometa, and married his love, Bertha Novita "Peggy" Brister on May 19, 1962. They moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, where his sister, Alfa Lou Moore Duncan and her family lived. Peggy and Sonny had 2 sons, William Dell Moore, and Wendell Dee Moore. Will and Wendell both had two children. His wife, Peggy preceeded Sonny in death, due to Cancer.
Sonny had a great love of fishing and hunting with the family, and spent many hours with them. He drove a semi-truck for Red Ball Freight Company for many many years, retiring after a bad accident coming out of Amarillo when his truck hit black ice, and it damaged his health. Sonny and Peggy lived all their married life in Grand Prairie, and their sons live there still. His son Will, having served in the U.S. Navy and retiring as Senior Chief after 26 years of service, then moving back to Grand Prairie for retirement.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, William Dee and Stella Smith Moore, his beloved wife, Peggy Brister Moore, 2 of his sisters: Annelle Moore Craft, Alfa Lou Moore Duncan. One sister still living - Wanda Rue Moore White, as well as his 2 sons and grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was at the funeral home in Grand Prairie, and then the services were in Lometa at the First Baptist Church. Internment at the Lometa City Cemetary, alongside his wife, Peggy, and close to his parents and Smith gr-grandparents, Alfred Marion and Cora Louise Barron Smith.
