Louis was born in Benton, Beaver County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Davis Walton Bush (1856-1940) and Mary Ellen Josephine Hall (1874-1944).
He married Mabry Hoffman (Stout) 14 December 1945 in Independence, Montgomery, Kansas. They adopted his niece and nephew (Sue and Billy) following their parent's deaths.
Louis and Mabry operated the Hi-Way Cafe in Bristow, Oklahoma for many years. Lewis served in the Navy in WWII.
