Verlinda Taliaferro was born on July 1, 1784, Rose Hill, Orange County, Virginia. She was the sister of Hay Taliaferro (b. November 10, 1774, d. January 25, 1833) and daughter of Col. Lawrence Taliaferro (b. December 09, 1734, d. April 08, 1798) and Sarah Dade Taliaferro (b. January 20, 1747) of "Rose Hill", Orange County, Virginia. She married Catlett Conway, Jr. (b. May 27, 1786, Hawfield, Orange County, Virginia) on September 29, 1810, Orange County, Virginia. He was the son of Captain Catlett Conway (b. December 25, 1751, d. September 14, 1827) and Susannah Fitzhugh (b. February 05, 1756, d. March 15, 1819). To Verlinda Taliaferro Conway and Catlett Conway Jr. were born: William Henry (b. August 09, 1814,d m. October 07, 1834 - Marian Glassell (b. April 1811, d. July 31, 1849) d. May 31, 1852), Evanlina Taylor Taliaferro (m. Rufus Fitzhugh and moved to Arkansas), Battaile Fitzhugh Taliaferro (b. September 14, 1814, m. Cornelia Sapphira Buchanan (b. February 07, 1822, d. February 06, 1895) d. July 15, 1897) and Julia. Verlinda Taliaferro Conway died on May 26, 1815, "Rose Hill", Orange County, Virginia. In 1816, following the death of his first wife, Catlett Conway Jr. married Harriett S. Taylor. They had one son that is known: Charles Conway ( b. 1821, d. 1848). Verlinda Taliaferro is buried in "Rose Hill" Taliaferro Family Graveyard with other members of the family. Catlett Conway Jr. died on July 25, 1839 in Spring Hill, Virginia.

Note: "Rose Hill" Taliaferro Family Cemetery is on private property. For many years it was left unkept and run down until the present owners, with the assistance of the Manassas area Boy Scouts and the Sons of the American Revolution during the Spring of 2006, restored it as well as could be done. Many of the stones are no longer readable but about 14 still have visible markings. The current owners kindly allow visitation but by appointment only.Verlinda was the daughter of Lawrence Taliaferro and Sarah Dade.
