Julia Breitenbucher

RAVENNA - Julia M. Breitenbucher, 93, of Ravenna, died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Dale Lambert will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday prior to the service.

Mrs. Breitenbucher was born to Mary (Christensen) and Jens Petersen on July 13 1910, at Dannebrog.

Survivors include a niece and her husband, Sandy and Allen Simmons, Sr. of Boelus, and a number of cousins.

As a child, Julia moved with her family to Crosbyton, Texas. Later, the family returned to the Boelus area, where she received her education and graduated from Boelus High School.

Julia was united in marriage to Boyd L. Wetzel. The couple first made their home in Howard County, later moving to Tenmile, Ore., where he worked in the lumber camps. Boyd died in September 1944, Julia remained, making her home in Tenmile.

Julia then married Fredrick "Wayne" Breitenbucher. The couple made their home in Tenmile, where Wayne also worked in logging. Wayne died on May 19 1982. Julia continued to live in Tenmile until moving to Roseburg, Ore.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus.

She loved to raise flowers, especially roses; enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and canning salmon, fruits and vegetables.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a sister, Elenor Quest, and two brothers, Edward and Walter Petersen.

Memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church in Boelus.
