Obituary

Jens Petersen was born in Chicago, Ill. September 26, 1875 and came with his parents to Howard County in 1878. He lived in this county till in 1913 when he moved to Texas with his family and lived there till about the first of December 1918 when they moved to Hardin, Mo.

Mr Petersen was married March 16 1904 to Miss Mary Christensen, four children, two boys and two girls were born to them, all of whom are living; Edward T., aged 13 years, Walter C. 12 years, Juliana M. 8 years and Elnora C. 3 years.

Mr. Petersen's health had not been very good for some time, but it was not until lately that his condition became serious. He went to Kansas City where he was operated on for kidney trouble after which he died in the hospital, Feb. 20, 1919. His death came as a shock to his family and many friends.

Besides his wife and children, Jens Petersen leaves to mourn the loss of one who was loved, honored and respected: His aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Petersen at Farwell; two brothers, Chris and Peter both near Boelus, two sisters, Mrs. Paul Lang at Farwell and Miss Hannah living on the home place with her brother Peter; besides other relatives and a large number of friends.

Funeral services were held Friday at Dannebrog by Rev. Pedersen and again at Dry Creek where interment was made. Ole Jacobsen acted as undertaker on account of the absence of his brother J. P.

Mr. Petersen was a kind and loving husband and father and a good upright, hard working man; we had personally known him ever since he came to Howard county and in all our dealings with him found him honest and straight forward. We join the many friends in extending heart felt sympathy to the bereaved family.
